Going Back Home
Joseph went home after the retreat at White Dove Spiritualist Camp and all of Magna Christopher’s teachings. He had plenty to think on as he traveled back to his place. And slept well that night.
He went out the door of his cabin the next morning, Joseph looked around his environment. Taking his time, he started to see his surroundings for the first time. Sure, it was always there, but now he could see nature for the beauty and energy that was always there. The blades of grass, the leaves on the trees, all the wildflowers and herbs had a different energy about them.
It wasn’t an obvious glow, but subtle. But also obvious to him for the first time. No matter where he trained his eyes, all natural things had a subtle glow. Now that he could see it, he couldn’t not see it.
Joseph remembered Ms. Christophers sharing information in her book. The best way to appreciate what you have is to pretend you are a person that has newly arrived on the planet. Actually, see things for the first time.
He played with that idea. I am looking at the world with the eyes of a newborn child. He was in awe and wondered why he had never seen it before.
Not only was Joseph seeing the world with new eyes, but he also started to live in the present moment. Past and future took a back seat in his thoughts. ‘Now’ was the only thing that was promised, and he wanted to make the best of this life as possible.
As days and then weeks followed, he began living more and more in the present moment. Until it was his only way of living. Every moment was an enjoyable experience. Everything that was encountered was so magnificent that each waking moment was a new adventure. Joseph was so excited with life, that he could hardly wait for the next new scenario to show itself.
“When you are that open, you are tuning in. Tuning into Spirit World. You are receiving all the wonders that the Universe has to offer. New people, who are on the same path as you are, will enter your life. New situations, that fit into your plans perfectly, will start coming your way. Things you were hoping for, will just seem to happen for you. All this without your having to do anything.”
One day, Joseph had been sitting by a nearby stream for hours. He listened to the voices in his head. It had become normal for him to interact with his spirit guides. They were teaching him about spiritual law and humanity.
All at once, in his mind’s eye, he sees a vision of a young woman. She was around 28 years old and had a journal in her hands. She looked vaguely familiar to him. But he did not know anyone who was that age. There was something different about this vision. It was not the normal thing he saw intuitively. It represented something that he should recognize.
His vision was jarred, and Joseph looked around to see what had interrupted him. Ben came walking slowly towards him. He still was a way from Joseph, but he stood up and went to greet him.
They spoke briefly about things and Joseph noticed that Ben had a newspaper tucked under his arm. He really did not draw attention to it and kept talking about generalities.
Joseph stopped him and looked directly in Ben’s eyes. It was obvious that something was happening. The visit came at an odd time of day, and he knew Ben had other chores he usually was involved in that time of year.
Ben unfolded the paper. There was a picture of Donovan on the front page. The date had come for his execution. There was an extensive article along with the picture written by a new journalist that gave a brief history of his involvement in the killing of a baby and the shocking court proceedings surrounding it.
Of course, 6-7 years had passed since he saw Donovan and he looked much older. “Convicted of baby’s murder,” was the caption under the photo.
Death row. New York. Joseph had to go see him.
