I understand your excitement and dismay concerning fictional characters. Yes, they do take on a life of their own, unlike anyone you may currently know. In fact, I believe that characters in novels really lived (in one way or the other) in real life. Or perhaps, live in that unseen, mystical world, never destined to be bone and blood human. Like I said earlier, I channel them, and they grow as I write. (being a psychic medium helps to relate to this). I always thought I was just making it up until I found out that Toni Morrison is a medium as well. And that she talked to the characters, received answers from them as she wrote. So, I have no problem admitting that I do the same.
