Finding Spirituality and Breaking Loose from Established Religion
A Mystic’s Journal is my main-stay publication and I thank all the new subscribers that have recently stopped by! I share mystical events and psychic medium teachings. Always with my ‘edgy’ perspective. Weekly journals are free, plus weekend posts are paid only. Sign up for either right here:
When we have a spiritual center, a divine spark within, the serenity we carry inside shines outward in the form of the love, joy, and compassion we are able to give others. ~Randi G Fine~

A Truthful Moment
Honestly, I am not as scattered as the background of my video implies. Yes, there is a scattering of items, stacks of papers and stuff galore. But they are all important at this moment. And I just don’t have the physical energy (or motivation) to get it done. If it were not for my afternoon nap, I’d really be frazzled. So, please give me Grace and I intend to do better.
A Composite of Spirituality vs. Religion
The more I wanted to write this particular journal entry, the more difficult it became. Do I concentrate on what Spirituality is? Do I blast religions? I certainly could do both. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that many of you reading this right now, may be very religious. I would never want to offend you. But I also want to be true to what I think about it all. Let’s see if I can hit a middle road.
Maybe if I can give my impressions of both sides of the coin - I must admit that I am slanted on this…
I saw a poster the other day that opens my thoughts and I’ll share it here with my extended thoughts on each item.
Religion worships God, Spirituality encourages oneness with God. Along with this is the idea that God is somewhere outside of you. I remember years ago, reading one of the first chapters in a book by Rick Warren called The Purpose Driven Life. The first thing he suggested was to realize that God is something bigger and greater than you. It is outside of you. No, no, no. If God is All That Is, then God is Within. We are all part of the Great Divine - God, if you will. There is no division between me and God.
Religion separates people who have different beliefs. While Spirituality unites everyone regardless of belief. Again, we are all part of the Divine. We may have differing thoughts about Life, but we are still part of the whole.
Religion teaches people to be afraid of hell, a scare tactic in many denominations to keep people on the straight and narrow. But Spirituality creates the idea of heaven on earth.
Religions are based on fear and restriction, keeping everyone in a tidy box, never straying from their norm. But Spirituality is based on love and freedom, opening us to see and feel life and the wonder of the universe. Fear is not a factor.
Religion makes us feel like a single drop in the ocean. Bur Spirituality feels like being the entire ocean in a single drop. There is a full universe within each of us.
And finally, religions are based on other’s experience. Whereas Spirituality is based on your personal experience. In fact, it is encouraged to make it totally your own experience.
My thoughts are that we each have the opportunity to build our own personal Spiritual path based on what we feel about life. What you are looking/ searching for. Allow that concept to grow and morph as needed. If you are boxed in a belief system, being told what to think and do, then you might be in a religion. If you are free to think as you will, then you are part of spirituality.
