Are You an Old Soul?
How can someone be considered an "old soul" if there is no such thing as time in the Spirit World?
In my understanding, all souls are the same age, if you will. Generally, our souls have always been in existence - since Creator Source existed (exists) in the Celestial Plane. This is the highest plane of existence. The Celestial Plane is the origin of all creation. We, as souls, are small bits of the Divine Source looking or seeking a deeper and more complex existence, wanting to increase feelings, emotions and knowledge of an expanded understanding (Third Dimension).
The Physical Plane is where we (soul) presently reside. This is when our Souls become manifest in the Physical Existence, in Human form. Part of Theosophical teaching is that human beings have several bodies: physical, astral, mental, etc. that occupy the same space simultaneously. As our Self interacts with and connects all previous bodies (all the way back to Celestial Plane Source), the human physical body experience is created. Full manifestation occurs in the physical, as we know it. If Souls Have Always Existed, How Could Some Be Old?
The thing or concept we speak of as an ‘old soul’ really means that the particular soul has been more involved in the Earth-Human Experience. It has had many incarnations which add to its knowledge and understanding of Life on Earth (or other physical spaces). See, this is a very deep and complex idea. So I hope I am condensing it into bites of information that we can understand.
There are also souls that are younger in experience. They have decided to not incarnate as often as others. There could be many reasons for that. I believe a major one would be that a Life Experience was a horrifying one, where there was much emotional pain and difficulties so intricate, it was almost impossible to manage. That soul decided to rest and evaluate while out of human form.
Then there is the concept that soul decides when to make a human appearance, with what circumstance that has the best environment and family surrounding them. Recognizing the circumstances it will be raised up in and be affected by. These things help determine when the soul decides to incarnate to gain the most experience.
If you feel like you are an old soul, but are not sure, check out these personality traits to see if you fit the bill:
You prefer to be alone or at least with only a few true friends.
You do not fit the mold of conventional thinking. You have been there, done that and are truly looking for the final incarnation.
You enjoy a good gathering of friends but need alone time to recharge.
You are able to remain Calm even in tough situations.
You can see through a problem and come to solve it.
Your family sees you as a very deep minded person full of wisdom.
You prefer to make a difference and assist humanity.
An ‘old soul’ evolves. They have experienced life on earth as a human for many lifetimes. The term “old soul” is a one that society has come up with to explain the concept more easily. The amount of knowledge and experience a spirit has accumulated and has successfully learned many lessons of the physical world, is then reflected in their soul evolution.
No matter if you are an old soul or a younger one, you are here to experience life in the best and fullest way. As long as you enjoy and live to your best, then you are a blessed individual.
