Welcome to The Inner Circle! This Journal is delivered every weekend to paid subscribers (the Inner Circle), along with the regular Tuesday post. Regular readers always get a Tuesday Journal, but they also get a small peek at this publication, which is always more expanded with class or workshop content. So, I hope you find it interesting enough to join us! Thanks.
I’ve long been interested in alchemy, even though I had no idea what it was! After researching and pulling this Journal (article) together, I still don’t quite hold onto the concept of it. But after I saw how we can use it in regular life with common, natural items (as opposed to being Merlin) then it started to make it real for me. I hope it does for you too.
Humans long to recognize Connection to the Source. It seems to be our total reason for living, whether we know it or not. We can do so using Inner Alchemy.
During the Middle Ages, Alchemy was not only considered science, but also art and religion. It is the science of multiplication, based on the natural phenomenon of growth. It’s the process of making something from nothing and increasing something that already exists.
In the hermetic tradition, alchemical work takes place on many different levels – the physical work with substances, the experience and manipulation of etheric forces, the interior work of the soul and with spiritual and planetary/cosmic aspects.
These different areas cannot be separated but are always blending with and overlapping each other. To make any progress in alchemy, you must honor all areas simultaneously, walking alongside inner work with outer work at the same time: manifesting in [1] the physical, such as the biblical story of the fishes and the loaves that Jesus continued to serve when they should have been completely gone; [2] mentally in creating joy for yourself and [3] spiritually as in the connection with the Higher [or Inner] Self.
Alchemy is a spiritual tool used to produce a planned outcome. Many only understand it as changing metals into gold. However, there are many applications for using alchemy. Alchemy can be described as changing “the inner spiritual landscape”: a Personal Spiritual Discipline and enhancing Divine Connection. You can explore the use of Personal Spiritual Symbols, Visualization, and Meditation to accomplish these connections.
