I’ve probably taught psychic development and other similar ideas for over 30+ years. It was about 20 years ago that I lost it.
Let me clarify I am not a very demanding person and certainly not a bossy-type person. So to handle and teach a class — especially one that is not in a school system — you know, one that the students are all different ages, backgrounds, experience can be very difficult for a socially backward person. Actually, that is the part I love: the diversity.
So, what exactly did I lose? Control. I’ve always be able to introduce a class, greet students, present a lecture, handle exercises and meditations, and make sure the students have a chance to interact with each other and/or express knowledge gleaned from their Spirit Guides.
This particular time, there was a new student. She was self-developed with a specialty in reading Akashic Records and Reiki Healing and had set up her own business in those areas. Actually, she had a beautiful website about it. Her training comprised of one day or weekend workshops. She had not attended any group development classes similar to what I was holding. I guess you could say she was a wild card for our class.
I rarely have any problems with new people coming into the class. They normally were longtime from the area and knew someone else in the class. This young woman (I’ll call her Ann) had recently moved with her husband, was pregnant and looking for like-minded folks.
But this is where I have issues — and have once in a great while. A person who was self-taught or developed on their own is usually very set in their ways, comfortable with the information they are getting and not willing to budge. I’ve seen it many times in other situations. There have only been a small few that were in attendance in my class over time.
People (like that) that come into my classes want to be cajoled into thinking their gifts are well set and they are simply polishing their works. However, I have found that these are the people who really need to start from the very beginning in understanding development in this field. The manner in which they have unfolded is unclear to me, but certainly has not been in psychic fundamentals.
The class went normally. At the end of class, people were staying to talk to her and get to know her. One person mentioned that Reiki Healing is a part of Universal Energy (you know, All is One).
Oh, she got upset with that. She stated that being a Reiki Practioner is the only healing method there is. And the other person was saying that it is a division (if you will) of Universal Energy.
No, she wasn’t having it. Ann said she had been attuned as a practitioner/teacher. And her credentials were impeccable. She would not acknowledge any other form of healing. And the other person did not back down either.
And I lost control of the class. I did not know how to break up the argument, (yes, it had escalated into an argument.) Neither party would listen to any explanation. It was a mess! Finally, I decided the only thing I could do was go home. So I gathered up my stuff and said goodbye to everyone and went home.
I was so upset about the situation. And it took me a long time to sort this out.
Ann did not return to class. She deleted her email from my list and unfriended me on Facebook. To me those were very childish things to do, but then I realized. Ann was on her own path and could not be open to possibilities. She had already made up her mind as to how she was going to operate in the world.
This whole situation came about to help me understand to be more discerning with people. It showed me that not everyone will want to follow my path. That’s okay.
Don’t want to commit to the weekly thing? But still would like to support me in my work? I would greatly appreciate a Cup of Coffee. Buy me a cup?
