Accessing Your Inner Self
There are many reasons you might like to start a meditation practice. I have been pushing the use of meditation as a means for mediumship development. Mainly because many people ask me about it and are interested in using this ability.
But part of what I share in here in A Mystic’s Journal is how to access your Inner Self. Being available to connect with the divine essence that you are. That does not mean you have to develop your psychic mediumship. It simply means you can develop a connection that may have been missing before.
This is why I am sharing the Meditation Journal idea with you today.
Life is a voyage of self-expression. In order to have accurate accounts, keeping a log to record the adventure is required. The journal is not a place for explaining, asking or answering why. That would be the purpose of a diary. This is a log. Simply a report of what happens. If byou are committed, then exploring your inner world is something to do simply because it is a part of you, and you want to understand that part better.
Obtain a good-sized notebook. Artist’s sketchbooks are inexpensive and idea in every way. There is plenty of room for certain accounts, drawings of things seen, vague symbols, and so on.
Sometimes the first page is difficult, since you may not know where to start. Many times, a poem or special saying by a famous person is a good way to open the first page. You may even want to tear out the first page. Whatever you do, don’t worry about it, because this is your account, not anybody' else’s. After all, no one else will be seeing it.
If you want to search, change or grow, then you have to be willing to accept where you are and be willing to be who you are. Then you have a better picture of where you want to go. The wisdom of growth is within you. You are always searching for a place to belong.
This journal gives you the opportunity to see where you are and know that you belong here inside yourself. Then, by tapping into that spirit within, through meditation, you are able to truly see.
Things to Keep in Your Journal
Experiences and feelings you had through meditation.
Wisdom gained- sometimes vary vague thoughts.
Dreams
Visions, including any slight impressions,
Any thoughts that come to you inspirationally
Numbers, symbols (even things that are not recognizable may be another time).
The Post Office Meditation
As I walked into the post office today, there were only about 4 other people in line. I had a package to mail, so I took my place. I don’t mind waiting. If I can see that everything is moving along in normal time, I’m okay with it.
It had been raining since the night before, and here in Ohio, it is getting a little nippy—you know, perfect high school football weather. But everyone in the post office today seemed a little irritated. So, I guess it’s logical to blame the weather.
All the people who were already at the clerk’s counter were either complaining that their mail hadn’t been delivered properly or were in the middle of some kind of detailed transaction.
The woman in front of me, who had hurried to get in line ahead of me, was very impatient. It seemed as if she was looking for a problem…wanting to complain about the wait taking too long.
I really didn’t understand why she was complaining, when we had only been there a total of about 60 seconds! But I appeased her with small talk, all the while wishing she would just turn around and be quiet.
You see, post office line-waiting is one of my favorite meditation times. Over the years, I’ve realized that taking advantage of every short spurt of time during the day is an excellent way of getting my daily dose of meditation.
Besides the post office, there is the grocery checkout line, waiting for someone to answer the phone when I am calling, commercials between TV programs. Then of course, there is waiting for the cinema to start.
You might be challenged at finding the perfect time for meditation too. Sometimes we make excuses not to meditate, because we can’t find the time for it. Just look at the little cracks of in-between time, like the post office waiting line, for moments of silence.
The woman in front of me hasn’t figured it out yet. And boy was she hot. She must have wasted our time for about 10 minutes, by complaining. We both could have had a great meditation! And felt very rested and calm.
But by the time she made it to the clerk, she was reeling. If I had made it to the line ahead of her in the first place, I would have let her go ahead of me after those 10 minutes.
Why not take a moment now and again, when there is nothing else to do but wait. Breathe deeply a few times and just let your mind wander. Don’t worry about the time, the person behind you will let you know when to move up in the line!
Whan are your favorite in-between moments to catch a meditation?
