Exploring Psychic Tools and Receiving Names in Mediumship
There were several psychic tools that I thought I might like and could use in the early beginnings of my development. So, I started studying them.
Runes: an ancient divination practice using typically 24 symbols from the Elder Futhark (similar to our alphabet) to gain insight into life situations, paths, and future possibilities.
Tarot: tarot cards are used to gain insight into the past, present or future. A traditional tarot deck consists of 78 cards, which can be split into two groups, the Major Arcana and Minor Arcana.
Numerology: analyzes numbers derived from your birth date and full name to reveal insights into your personality, life purpose, and future cycles. These readings offer clarity on relationships, career, and personal growth
All three tools were age old and used in many different ways over thousands of years. But the one thing that kept stopping me was that I could not remember the meaning of each part of the system.
Runes were fascinating and I really connected with the history and culture of the Vikings. But each symbol (letter) had a special meaning associated with it. And I always had to go back to the book for definition. How was I supposed to present a viable reading like that?
Tarot worked much the same as the Runes. Each card had a specific symbol and number with it. But for the life of me, I could not remember what the meanings were.
And so, Numerology might work! Mind you, this was in the 1980s before computers were massively available. So, I had to study the books and write in long hand each reading to create a chart for a certain customer.
They all were full of studious and custom work that I just did not have time for or the memory for.
I worried about it for a while. But then I realized that I already had the best tool available: Spirit. I was opening as a medium. I did not have to carry a definition book around with me when I was to give a reading.
All I had to do was open and connect with my Spirit Guides! It was instant. As I moved into the client’s vibration, my guides did the rest. Whatever the person needed answers to was presented in my mind through the guides. All I had to do was say it.
Of course, there was a much more detailed process/procedure involved in receiving and presenting medium-acquired information and validation. But you just couldn’t beat the ease and precision in attaining the instant connection needed for a spiritual reading.
Caution Is Warranted
When opening to psychic and mediumistic abilities, it may leave you vulnerable to low-level spirits, entities and energies. Learn to protect yourself properly (much more info here) so you can still connect with your guides and be effective with your psychic abilities. Being aware is being empowered. Learn physical ways to protect yourself, as well as energy techniques.
The fear of something, such as a psychic attack, can stop you in your tracks. If you gasp in fear, it closes you from your power. By taking a quick breath and holding it (such as a gasp) it weakens you, disconnects you from your source, the prana or chi. You will lose oxygen and possibly energy! Always focus on your breath.
Try this Breathing Exercise: inhale through the nose, counting to three (3). Exhale out of the mouth, loudly, counting the six (6).
Physical movements to go along with the inhale: knees bent then straighten to ridged position, arms and hands pulling into the heart-center.
Exhale: relax knees and bend slightly, allowing arms and hands to gently push energy away from the heart area.

How Do You Receive Names During a Reading?
I recently read an article by Lauren Robertson, The Art and Science of Mediumship (below) on Receiving Names in Mediumship. I sent her a high five, since I agreed with all her points. She asked if I had any more to add? Here is what I shared with her.
So, the only two tips that I can think of right now: (1) Blurt out whatever name pops into your head. Usually, it is before any other information comes in. Just trust and blurt! A longtime friend and Medium used to receive names at the beginning of her contact. Sometimes the names did not connect right off, but then things got tuned in and she would hit the correct names all in a row! and (2) You may see your cousin Mary or Grandma Edna. This could be names of your client's loved ones, or it could really be their cousin or grandma. Mention both. (you never know) but chances are you are tuned in to the correct channel.
