Ensoulment is the process and journey of finding the embodiment of your True Nature (your Soul). It’s your ability to embrace, live, and experience your most authentic Self. Ensoulment is a core part of spiritual-awakening, and it is the central path of the Mystic.
Welcome! Our community is growing, and I welcome those who recently joined. A Mystic’s Journal is delivered every Tuesday. Please feel free to share with others. Thanks.
I so enjoyed researching and presenting this particular Inner Circle Journal last year. I have revamped it and now it’s ready for the whole group! It is so important for everyone to know about Ensoulment that I wanted to share it with regular subscribers.
The Path of the Mystic
There is so much information on the understanding of Ensoulment.
Wikipedia: In religion and philosophy, ensoulment is the moment at which a human or other being gains a soul.
And I will not get into the particulars of this philosophy since it brings up sensitive political feelings. (And I do not discuss politics!) But the generalized recognition of Ensoulment is broader and encompasses the Mystic Life.
I have intentionally redefined and reimagined Ensoulment to mean the ongoing experience of Soul Initiation: the concept of Modern-Day Metaphysical Spirituality. So, this is an extension and deeper dive into Mysticism.
There is an emphasis on the transcendent spirit. While Spirit is all encompassing, Soul is within each physical being. It is when Spirit becomes Carnate (having a human body). It is rooted in the feminine/masculine here-and-now.
Your Inner Light is the symbology of the Flame of the Soul. This is the path we travel as a mystic. When you recognize the Soul Within Your Being, then you are on a mystic’s path.
A Metaphysical Scientific Explanation
Taken from early classes I taught years ago:
The human brain (physical) is an engine that motivates the mind (etheric). The mind connects the Soul to Spirit. We all possess a Soul. On a fundamental level, Soul is our animating essence – it derives from the Old English word ‘sawol’ which means “spiritual and emotional part of a person, animate existence.” Through time, the Soul has been understood as the indwelling spark of Divinity we all carry.
Basically, Soul is your True Nature; it’s your innermost essence of Spirit embodied in earthly form. To use a simple analogy, Spirit is like pure light (Divine), whereas Soul is a kaleidoscope of multi-colored lens through which Spirit shines (Aura).
Ensoulment is the process and journey of finding the embodiment of your True Nature (your Soul). It’s your ability to embrace, live, and experience your most authentic Self. Ensoulment is a core part of spiritual-awakening, and it is the central path of the Mystic.
At Least 7 Signs You Are a Modern Mystic
Ensoulment quite literally means ‘being in the Soul’ or embodying the Divine essence within you.
A Modern-Day Mystic is a person who is called to live, express, and fulfill the destiny of their Soul.
If you are a Modern-Day Mystic, you:
Recognize that you have a specific meaningful role to play on this planet
Yearn for a purpose-filled life
Are drawn toward the spiritual or metaphysical realm
May have undergone a Spiritual Awakening, or Dark Night of the Soul
Find it hard to fit in or belong in this world
Feel everything intensely, as an empath
Enjoy introspection and solitude
Our world desperately needs Modern-Day Mystics who rediscover, reclaim, live, breathe and share their Soul’s purpose.
In Hard Times, the Soul Can Be Lost
In times like we are in now many people lose sight of their Soul. It becomes covered or clouded. Humanity is lost and compassion seems non-existent. You may be aware these days of hyper anxiety, depression, addictions, narcissism, unheard of violence and abuse. This is an example of a soulless society.
You may even be aware of someone that seems to not have a soul.
But we all have a soul. We are born with a soul. It is the embodiment of Spirit. It is a must-be thing.
The hard times is when we especially must connect with our Soul.
Mysteries and Depths of the Soul
On the other hand, someone who is Ensouled is aware of the mysteries and depths of the Soul. Some of us are keenly aware, recognize and appreciate our Souls. Sometimes a global crisis will shift your awareness to become Ensouled.
It can be sensed in people who live purpose-driven lives that center not just around their needs, but the needs of the human collective. Being Heartfelt in honoring the power of imagination, symbolism, and creativity.
They live in the present moment while feeling connected with other people, the world, and Life itself. They align themselves with the mysteries and magic within us all. This connects them (and us) with the Wholeness of Nature, embodying the Soul.
Ensoulment is something we strive for, move towards in a journey that flows with us. We do not achieve it, we become it.
It has been said that ‘Ensoulment is inner archaeology – it helps us to go back to the root of our being.’ Be the architect of your Soul. Whatever you do according to your heart’s desire, you are following the Path to Ensoulment.
I’ll continue to explore the concept of Ensoulment and the Search for the Path of the Mystic. That is my reason for writing and teaching here at A Mystic’s Journal and the Inner Circle.

‘Ensoulment is inner archaeology’ - this line alone carries so much depth. Your writing doesn’t just explain, it initiates. It calls the reader back to themselves, to their Soul, to their essence. A true mystic’s journal.
