Avoid Misunderstandings: Don't Make Assumptions

How many times have you made an assumption and not realized it? In our society our minds are trained at an early age to assume information. What can we do about it?

  1. As I stated in the podcast, knowingly re-programming yourself to not make assumptions is key. To undo assumptions, reconnect to your true nature of love. It will take time and patience, but recognizing it is the first, powerful step.

  2. Make sure to check in with your intuition: ask your Higher Self is this thought an assumption? Or am I receiving the information correctly?

  3. Understand that each person has a story that no one else knows. That story might be the thing that makes them act strange to you. Honor it.

  4. Not all situations are about you. There might be much more going on that you were not told. Let that be alright.

We have the tendency to make assumptions about everything. The problem with making assumptions is that we believe they are the truth. We could swear they are real. We make assumptions about what others are doing or thinking — we take it personally — then we blame them and react by sending emotional poison with our word. That is why whenever we make assumptions, we’re asking for problems. We make an assumption, we misunderstand, we take it personally, and we end up creating a whole big drama for nothing.” —don Miguel Ruiz
